Homework

This week we have sent home reading books for each of the children, and new spelling books. The spelling test will take place every Friday, with the new spellings given out on a Friday afternoon. There is also a Numbots/TTRS login stuck on the inside of each child’s spelling book just incase any previous logins have been lost.

Please note – next Thursday afternoon, we have been given the opportunity to go to Grove Tennis Club for a tennis taster session. Please can children wear their P.E kit on this day, as this will replace the Friday PE lesson.

We will be walking down to Grove tennis club from school. We would welcome parent volunteers to walk down with us. If you are available please let us know by sending an email to enquiries@stwilfridssheffield.co.uk

Science – Materials

This week we went on another material hunt, to see if we could spot how materials are used in our school. When we returned to class, we worked as a group to list the different properties of materials!

Science – Materials!

Today we started our new unit of work in Science – Materials. We spoke about the different uses of everyday materials, and went on a ‘material hunt’ around the playground. We looked for different objects made from different materials, including wood, plastic, rock, metal and glass.

RE – Families

Today we started our new RE topic – Families. We discussed how we show love and care towards our family members, and we each spoke about who is in our family. The children then made their very own puppets which represented each person in their family. We really enjoyed this activity!

PE Days

Good afternoon,

A quick message just to confirm the PE days each week. PE will take place on a Tuesday and a Friday, so please send your children in with PE uniform on these days.

Thank you very much!

Miss Bagnoli

Welcome to Year 2!

I wanted to write a message to say what an absolutely wonderful first week we have had together in Year 2. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for making me (and Miss Cheetham!) feel so welcome! I have loved settling in so far and getting to know the lovely children in Finch class.

We have had a busy week in class! One of the activities that we worked on together this week was creating our very own class charter. We discussed ways in which we can keep our classroom a safe and happy place. The children shared some wonderful ideas such as ‘always be kind and caring towards others’ and ‘support and celebrate one another.’

This afternoon we went outside (in any shade we could possibly find!) and had our very own book picnic. The children shared some of their favourite stories from our class library with one another. Hopefully next time we will invite parents in to join us!

Just a reminder for PE days: the only day that is confirmed as of yet is Tuesday. Hopefully the second day will be confirmed on Monday so I will send another message out ASAP.

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!

Miss Bagnoli
