Homework

Spelling – Your child should have brought home their spelling journal (or a sheet) with the words for this week. If not our spellings can be found on google classroom. Spelling journals should be returned to school every Thursday ready for the next set of spellings.

Maths – Numbots. Everyone received a copy of their login details for Numbots with the Autumn term class letter. Please also try to spend some time practicing number bonds within 10 as this will help our maths learning next week. Numberblocks episodes are great for this!

Reading – Please try to listen to your child read daily. This really is the best way to improve their fluency.

Reading & Phonics

In Autumn term 2, all Year 2 children will be required to complete the statutory phonics screening, just as they would have done in the summer term of Year 1.

In preparation for this we have sent home an additional homework sheet for the children to complete. These sheets will be given out every Friday with the children’s spelling journals. These sheets will have both real words and ‘alien’ words on them. Please encourage your child to spot and underline the ‘special friends’ in the words before reading them.

The children are all working really hard during their phonics lessons in school and this additional practice is just there to ensure that they feel confident when faced with new and unfamiliar words.

Thank you all for you continued support.

Mrs Savage.
